Chelsea look favorites to land Manchester United’s 18-year old midfielder Paul Pogba, but Arsenal are still interested in the youth and might hijack the deal.
The highly-rated French U-19 midfielders departure from the Old Trafford outfit was imminent, with the midfielder refusing to sign a contract extension with Manchester United.
Constant refusal to sign an extension has irked manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who hasn’t featured Paul Pogba in his plans, despite the ongoing midfield crisis at the club. Manchester United would be looking to offload Paul Pogba in this transfer window, rather than wait for summer to sell him for less when his contract expires.
Chelsea sent a two-man delegation to Manchester United to watch him play for the reserves, and look as front-runners for landing the midfielders signature, ahead of reported suitors Inter Milan. A fee of around £3 million is thought to be enough to prize the young prospect to Stamford Bridge.
Paul Pogba could also be tempted to switch loyalties to Chelsea due to the opportunity of playing Champions League football, something which Manchester United cannot provide him this season after their ouster from the tournament early in the group stages.
